What Wicca Means to Me
written in 1996

To me, Wicca is a peaceful Pagan religion, based on the worship of Gods and Goddesses and reverence for Mother Nature and all Her Creatures.

I believe that all the Gods and Goddesses come from one source, which I call the One. Everything in the Universe comes from the source and therefore everything is interconnected. This is not to say that all Goddesses are one Goddess and all Gods are one God. They are each distinct beings with distinct attributes and personalities. But they emerged from the One in order to help us know the One, as it is beyond the capacity of human understanding.

I also believe we are reincarnated. In my view, our souls emerge from the One when it feels a need to enrich itself. We start out at the most basic level of spiritual and intellectual development. As our knowledge grows in each life, we reincarnate at a higher level with something more complex to learn. In this manner, our souls continue to evolve until we have reached a state where we cease to exist as finite beings or with an idea of the self. At this point we rejoin the One. Pieces of us may once again come out as new souls are created.

As a Wiccan, I also utilize the powers of the Universe and call to the aid of the God/esses through the use of magic and other practices such as meditation, ritual and visualization. I do perform spells to help me, but I don't rely on them solely to get what I want. I use them to give some extra help. I also never do a spell that would harm or manipulate anyone, as this goes against the Rede. The Rede is briefly stated: "An it harms none, do what ye will."

To further help me along the road of life, I practice several forms of divination, the two most prevalent being Tarot and Runes. I am also learning to develop my powers of intuition, which have grown quite strong these last few months. I've even been known to scare people by calling them back when they hadn't left a message and saying, "Well, you called didn't you?"
